Dear students and parents,
The time has come to choose a CCA as part of your holistic development during your primary school life. While in BLGPS we have an array of different interesting CCAs to choose from, few are like us in Taekwondo where we are able to achieve a balance between the sports and the performing arts. On top of all, Taekwondo prioritises the development of one's virtues and character above all, and our coaches here in BLGPS Taekwondo make it a point to enforce it on a daily basis.

Opportunities:
- Progression - We conduct 3-4 gradings each year, so if the student takes part in and passes all of them, they will eventually progress to obtain their junior black belt (poom belt) by the time they graduate from BLGPS.
- Inter-School Competitions - Last year, 36 out of our 37 members had the opportunity to represent the school in the National Primary Schools Taekwondo Championship held yearly by the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF). (We are currently lacking in female Taekwondo members so female students who join us will almost definitely have the opportunity to represent the school in this competition.) We have also clinched medals in 4 individual categories and 3 team categories. A total of 15 pupils walked home with medals after the tournament. In the subsequent years, we aim to send even more students for competitions.
- School / Public Performances - Last year, Taekwondo put up a breathtaking performance during the BLGPS Production that took place in Republic Polytechnic with public audience. Students had the opportunity to showcase their passion and skills in the art of Taekwondo.
- Sparring Training - Interested students who attained green-belt and above will be given the opportunity to take part in sparring training with strict adherence to MOE and STF safety guidelines.
- Lots of sweat, lots of fun - Taekwondo training will be tough, and that's the fun part. We make it a point to throw in fun elements in the form of small challenges and games during training to make sure our students have fun while they are training up their skills. Our trainings are physically demanding, but as they say, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Every year we see our Primary 3 students greatly improve in physical and mental resilience over the year, and it is extremely rewarding.
Costs to expect:
